It is important to take care of your health. It is also important to have a family doctor who can help you stay well. But when you don’t have health insurance, doctor visits and medicine can be hard to access. Some people delay going to the doctor until they get very sick. Other people go to emergency rooms for an illness that can be treated by a family doctor.
So where should you go when you do not have an emergency and do not need to go to the emergency room? Good news. There are health centers and clinics in every county in South Carolina that may be able to help you even though you don’t have health insurance. Only some of them are free, so be sure to ask how much you will need to pay. If you have a medical emergency, go to the emergency room.

Behavioral health centers are also noted on the map and key. Behavioral health centers can provide help with drug and alcohol abuse or mental health concerns. The list includes street addresses, phone numbers and in some cases, web sites.
